About Kirk Dawes QPM

Kirk is the Director of Kirk Dawes CES and Managing Director of West Midlands Mediation and Transformation Services Limited.
He also sits on the Executive Committe and the Board of Directors of Birmingham Royal Ballet.
A former Police Officer, Kirk was Chair person of the West Midlands Black and Asian Police Association.
His work, passion and expertise were recognised, when he was awarded the Queens Police Medal (QPM), in the Queen’s birthday honours list, for services to the cause of diversity.
Kirk’s experience spans the full range of policing and diversity issues. A former police trainer and facilitator, Kirk taught investigation and diversity issues to senior managers and detectives – with special focus upon the issues emanating from the McPherson and subsequent reports related to the investigation of murder, institutional racism and diversity. Kirk has also been called to give evidence at employment tribunals and has advised senior managers pertaining to the issues of specific tribunal cases.
Kirk has sat as a member of the Prime Ministers Round Table on gun and gang culture, pertaining to issues of diversity within the community, the Association of Chief Police Officers Criminal Use of Firearms Group and was lead for the National Black Police Association on Drugs, Gangs and Guns.
Although retired, Kirk’s services are retained by West Midlands Police on a part time basis, in recognition of his unique and powerful contributions and interventions.
Kirk is a trained mediator and is the current Director of Curriculum for the Centre for Conflict Transformation, the training arm of West Midlands Mediation and Transformation Services. WMMTS is primarily aimed at mediation amongst the seriously high risk element in the gang culture in Birmingham and the West Midlands.
He offers consultancy in the public and private sectors, an articulate, powerful and persuasive communicator, with an unrivalled grasp of both conceptual and operational aspects of diversity, gang and gun related issues.
