Transform Programmes

Transform, is designed to work with those most challenging of individuals who will probably have:

helping_hand
  • Committed serious crime
  • Are at risk of being involved in serious and organised criminality
  • Are at risk of being involved in gang related violence

People who would be referred to Transform will most likely be subject to offender management interventions and/or recognised to be ‘at risk’ or as presenting a risk. They may also be close to finishing a custodial sentence and wanting to make changes to their lives and/or are in need of significant support and supervision. These might specifically involve:

  • Pre-release work when in custody and then ‘beyond the gate’
  • Support and intervention whilst subject to offender management
  • Early Intervention when identified as ‘at risk’ or when starting to present a risk to others
  • Home based support when experiencing problems with mental health
  • When subject to an order which controls behaviour, associations and geography of movement

The age range is from ten years of age upwards, and the service can work with both females and males in all sorts of settings. There is an obvious difference between working with children as young as ten and an older, ‘experienced’ high risk offender. This difference is recognised in the nature of the package of support we ‘wrap round’ the individual and the focus of the intervention.

For example, thirteen year olds will most likely require relationship and trust building and work with family which makes them feel safe and secure and able to involve themselves in important areas such as schooling. This will have to be completed in the context of delivering family support. Conversely, a 35 year old serious offender leaving custody will probably require a home, access to training and job support and someone to rely on to help them become re-established with family and be there to support them when problems occur.

As stated, the methods of working are different but the focus on commitment, professionalism, persistency and consistency is exactly the same throughout. Further specialist services for high risk females are being developed at this time as are protocols in relation to enhanced housing provision.
